Girl, 16, fighting for her life after alleyway incident with woman arrested

A girl is fighting for her life in hospital after emergency services found her in an alleyway in south Manchester.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene just off Wilbraham Road in the centre of the suburb at around 7.30pm last night (April 30). They responded to 'reports of concern for her welfare'.

The 16-year-old girl was rushed to hospital from the scene. She remains there in a critical condition, police said.

A 21-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs. She remains in custody for questioning.

This morning, a cordon remains in place on the alleyway off the main road. An area to the side of a barber shop on Wilbraham Road, opposite the Morrison's supermarket, is taped off.

Forensic officers are on the scene carrying out investigations. In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At around 7.30pm on Tuesday 30 April 2024, we were called by our colleagues at the North West Ambulance Service in relation to a concern for welfare of a teenage girl in an alleyway on Wilbraham Road in Manchester.

"The girl, 16, was taken to hospital to be seen by healthcare professionals where she remains in critical condition. A 21-year-old female was arrested on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs.

"She remains in police custody. Enquires are ongoing at this stage."
