Gio van Bronckhorst warns Celtic that Feyenoord will be more formidable in Champions League return clash in Glasgow

Former Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has warned Celtic that Feyenoord will be even more formidable once star striker Santiago Gimenez is back for their return Champions League clash at Parkhead.

The Mexican was suspended for the Dutch giants' 2-0 win at De Kuip but he will be back for the final Group E encounter between the sides, with Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers already eyeing a revenge mission as he looks to progress from the group.

Feyenoord won thanks to a Calvin Stengs free-kick before half-time and Alireza Jahanbakhsh's strike after the break. But the latter's goal came after Gustaf Lagerbielke was given his marching orders for a second booking which resulted in a Feyenoord penalty, that Joe Hart saved, and Odin Thiago Holm got a straight red after coming on as a sub.

Ex Ibrox boss and Feyenoord legend van Bronckhorst was at the game and reckoned Celtic had put plenty of attention on shutting Stengs down. But with top striker Gimenez suspended for this match, the return leg later on in this group that also involves Atletico Madrid and Lazio will have a stronger Feyenoord for having him involved.

He told RTL 7: "You notice the lack of Gimenez in Feyenoord's game in this match. He is very all-round and important as a point of contact, as was the case in the home game against Heerenveen last weekend. With Giménez there, Stengs also gains more strength. I expect Feyenoord to become even more dangerous and complete from the third round, with Giménez.
