Gillingham defender Logan Dobbs has joined National South Tonbridge Angels after spell at Welling United
Gillingham’s young defender Logan Dobbs has taken a step up in his development after joining a new loan club.
Dobbs started the season at Welling United and enjoyed a successful spell at the Isthmian Premier Division side, despite a tough start to the season for the team, which led to Lee Martin’s departure as manager.
The central defender will play a higher level of football for the rest of the year after agreeing to join Tonbridge Angels on loan until January 3, 2026.
Tonbridge occupied 16th place in the National South table ahead of their derby match against Maidstone United on Saturday. Dobbs had to sit that game out through suspension.
Dobbs, a former Ipswich Town junior, started his first competitive game for Gillingham in the EFL Trophy match against Fulham earlier this season and scored early on in the 4-1 win.
He also started against Colchester United in the second game of the competition’s group stage. The Gills are back in Trophy action at home to Wycombe on November 11.
Angels boss Alan Dunne said: “Brilliant, delighted to have him in the building.
“I’ve watched him both at Gillingham and Welling, he has great attributes and has a real chance in the game.
“Great in both boxes and can score a goal, he can play anywhere in the back line, young, hungry and a real talent.”
The club added: “We thank [academy manager] Bryan Bull and Gillingham Football Club for facilitating Logan’s loan and hope that he has an enjoyable and rewarding time at the Yeomans Community Stadium.”
