Getafe manager breaks silence on Mason Greenwood transfer following Manchester United loan exit
The manager of Getafe has admitted signing Mason Greenwood was a 'delicate situation.'
Greenwood left Manchester United on transfer deadline a week after the club announced he would not be returning to first-team action at Old Trafford, a decision that was only reached as a U-turn in the wake of a backlash from supporters to the club's original plans to reintegrate him into the squad.
Greenwood hasn't played for United since January 2020 but the Crown Prosecution Service dropped charges of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault against the striker on February 2, 2023. United announced it had been mutually agreed with Greenwood that "it would be most appropriate for him" to resume his career away from Old Trafford following the conclusion of a six-and-a-half-month investigation.
The 21-year-old has two years remaining on his contract and has joined Getafe on loan for the season. The La Liga side acted swiftly to complete the move to avoid backlash other clubs credited with an interest experienced and manager Jose Bordalas has discussed the move.

“It is a very delicate situation to trivialise this issue,” Bordalas said, as quoted by the Metro. “Everyone knows what happened and the appropriate measures were taken, obviously, we can only talk about football.
“Regarding the other issues, I believe that the people and the relevant authorities did what they had to do and everyone knows how it ended with a non-conviction sentence therefore he is a free person, a footballer of a very high level and who arrives at Getafe with enormous enthusiasm and that we are obviously going to help him so that he recovers back to his best
