What David De Gea told Sergio Reguilon about Manchester United before his loan transfer

Sergio Reguilon has opened up on the conversation he had with former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea before completing his loan transfer to Old Trafford.

Reguilon was among four signings announced by United on deadline day as Erik ten Hag brought him in as a stop-gap replacement for Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia at left-back. Shaw and Malacia are both on the treatment table and are expected to be missing for several weeks with respective injury problems.

That forced United back into the market as Reguilon joined Altay Bayindir, Jonny Evans and fellow loanee, Sofyan Amrabat, in being brought in. Andre Onana, Mason Mount and fit-again striker Rasmus Hojlund were snapped-up for a combined £180million prior to Ten Hag making those late swoops.

Reguilon played against United and compatriot De Gea previously for parent club Tottenham and the now-former United goalkeeper was a natural pick to lean on for advice and guidance when the Old Trafford giants came calling. The 26-year-old was pressed on De Gea during a wide-ranging interview for MUFC media.

Reguilon said: "I spoke a lot with David and he told me about the club. He told me that you are coming to the best club in England. All these players [like De Gea] are legends over in Spain. I follow a lot of the Premier League."
