Gerwyn Price says training for boxing match was behind stunning Premier League form
Gerwyn Price is in training for a charity boxing match in April and he reckons his extra work in the gym was behind his incredible double-nine-darter performance in the Premier League on Thursday.
The world number one was in ridiculous form in Belfast, averaging over 107 across his three wins and hitting nine-darters against Michael van Gerwen and James Wade in the process.
The former rugby player is never in bad shape, but reckons putting in extra hours for his upcoming boxing bout has helped him hit top form on the oche.
‘Even wanting to do that and getting me back in the gym and trying to get fit over the last two-and-a-half, three weeks has probably got me back into playing as well as I am,’ Price told Online Darts.
‘I feel good in myself, if you’re feeling good inside then anything’s possible. I’m feeling on top of the world and long may it continue.
‘I need to drop another stone and a half. I don’t know whether that’s going to help me playing darts, but hopefully the more I lose the better I get and that’s quite scary.’

‘If you’re overweight, feeling lethargic, down in dumps, you’re going to take that onto the board,’ the Iceman continued.
‘I’ve come out of the gym feeling on top of the world, feeling in better shape, feel healthy. If you’re feeling good you’re going to take that onto the board and I think it definitely helps.’
