Gary Neville slams 'desperate' Barcelona over latest TV rights deal

It has been a fascinating summer of spending at Barcelona.

Despite their well-documented and widely-publicised masses of debt, the Spanish superpower have simply continued on their merry way, spending money aplenty as they rebuild their squad.

Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha have both been snapped up on big-money deals while Frank Kessie was also brought in on a free transfer.

The signings of Lewandowski and Raphinha in particular have left onlookers a little baffled as to how Barcelona are managing to fund these latest superstar deals.

Per TransferMarkt, the duo will cost the club nearly £100 million in transfer fees and all at a time when reports are circulating that the likes of Frenkie De Jong is sitting on unpaid wages.

So where on earth are Barcelona getting the money from?

Well, renowned English pundit and Manchester United legend Gary Neville might have an idea, but it is safe to say he is not happy with the way Barcelona are going about their business.

After Barcelona announced a deal confirming they had sold 15% of their future La Liga television rights, Neville exploded on Twitter, slating the club and once again drubbing up the old spectre of the European Super League.

You can see Neville’s rant in the tweet below:

Why are @FCBarcelona still pursuing the Super League? This is why! A desperate club £1.2bn in debt selling future revenue streams to spend on players today in the “Hope” it pays off! Rolling the dice stuff this with a giant of a club. https://t.co/uGOMdn00xM
