Gary Neville names Omar Berrada's first job as Manchester United CEO

Gary Neville has warned Omar Berrada the pressure will be on him at Manchester United, but says the incoming CEO can hit the ground running with some "easy wins" in the job.

With investment from INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe being confirmed - subject to Premier League ratification - further changes are being made behind the scenes. Berrada has been appointed as the new chief executive after resigning from a similar position at treble-winning neighbours Manchester City.

It was a surprising decision from the highly-regarded Spaniard, but one which underlines fresh ambition at United with Ratcliffe and INEOS Group taking responsibility for footballing operations. Neville, 48, has often been vocal in his criticism of the Glazer family - who are still United's majority owners.

Speaking on The Gary Neville podcast, Neville said: "It's a big job being CEO for Man United, when you think of all the things he has to go at. But there are also some pretty easy wins straightaway.

"Communication is really important, to have that voice that the club haven't had for the last 10 years. He can form part of a new management structure that can build trust with the fans, us and everybody that watches.

"They've not had someone who has operated in football for a long time and that's important, but it's a big task and all eyes are going to be on him. He's obviously had a brilliant, amazing grounding at Man City and Barcelona, two of the most successful clubs over the last 15 years."
