Gary Neville explains why Tottenham might not sell Harry Kane to Manchester United

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville believes no top manager will join Tottenham Hotspur if chairman Daniel Levy decides to sell Harry Kane in the summer.

MEN Sport understands United boss Erik ten Hag has made Kane his top transfer target in the summer. The Reds have been in search of a striker to bolster their forward line since Cristiano Ronaldo left the club in November.

Wout Weghorst was signed in January but it is widely expected he will leave United once his loan deal expires. The Manchester Evening News believes the Reds are not willing to 'play games' with Spurs over Kane and have put together a shortlist of alternatives which includes; Atalanta's Rasmus Hojlund and Eintracht Frankfurt's Randal Kolo Muani.

Tottenham were in action on Sunday at Liverpool but endured a horrific start which saw them go 3-0 down inside 15 minutes. After the third went in, Neville questioned whether Levy could sell Kane and still compete for top managerial talent.

He explained on Sky Sports: "Spurs are probably the fifth, sixth team in the country when you think where they should finish. Man United, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool have all got greater might.

"But they've competed with those teams in the last few years because of the stadium investment, world-class training ground, good managers, they've been in the top four. It's not been a bad period for the club. But the last few months have been shocking.

"When you think about this season for Spurs and how it's going to end, I'm not sure they can let Harry Kane go in the summer. I think they're going to let him play out the last year of his contract and build around him next season with a new manager.
