As the Columbian celebrated by the corner flag at the Stretford End, Neville took aim on co-commentary. "Casemiro, for a player of such experience, the amount of times he gives the ball away in bad areas," he said.

"There's no pressure around him it's a first-time ball that he tries. From that moment on, Liverpool have made mistakes in that area but Mohamed Salah is a different class and that cross is delicious."

Seven minutes later, the visitors had a second, and again Casemiro was picked out as being at fault. He was easily dispossessed by Diaz before finishing the move with a fierce strike into Andre Onana's bottom corner.

Unsurprisingly, Neville was quick to point fault with the midfielder again in the aftermath. "Casemiro is getting on in his years; he's had a really challenging first-half in particular those two goals," the former full-back added.

"I wouldn't expect Casemiro, the problems he's had (are ones) that would cost him. Getting caught on the ball and giving it away with no pressure - maybe getting outrun, isolated in defensive positions but that's two things, no matter what your age is, shouldn't be a problem."
