Gary Neville blasts 'little boy' Rob Holding after red card in Tottenham v Arsenal derby

Gary Neville slammed Rob Holding after he was sent off in the first half of the north London derby and says the Arsenal defender was made to look like a ‘little boy’ by Tottenham star Son Heung-min.

Holding was shown two yellow cards within 33 minutes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday night after struggling to cope with Spurs attacker Son.

The 26-year-old initially went into the book for a third foul on Son and was dismissed for blocking the South Korea international just 15 minutes later.

Manchester United legend Neville, commentating on the game for Sky Sports, said: ‘What is he doing? What is he doing?! Oh my goodness.

‘I’m watching the run from Son and he [Holding] has a jab with his elbow, it comes away from his body. He’s been erratic, rash, he’s lacked composure.

‘It’s madness. Mikel Arteta has big problems now. His centre-back has caused him huge issues in the first 35 minutes of this match.

‘We spoke about Holding earlier in the game. Son played him. He played him and played him, like a little boy.

‘Sometimes as a defender your head goes, you’re emotional and you do rash things. Son was in his head.’

Harry Kane’s 22nd-minute penalty put Tottenham ahead in this crucial north London derby and the England striker doubled Spurs’ lead shortly after Holding’s red card.

Arsenal travelled to their arch-rivals knowing a victory would have secured Champions League football and ensured they finished about Tottenham for the first time in six years.

But a home win would blow the top-four race wide open, with Spurs potentially moving just one point behind fourth-placed Arsenal with two games remaining.
