Gartcairn Women boss delighted to sign highly-rated midfielder

Gartcairn Women have signed former Glasgow City midfielder, Caitlin Moran, on a two-year professional deal.

The 17-year-old first came to the Airdrie club’s attention as part of the Central Region squad progressing to play for Scottish Schools and the Scotland U15 national team.

Gartcairn say the deal allows Caitlin to concentrate on her football and ongoing studies, without the pressure of needing to obtain a full-time job and juggle all three.

Head coach Robert McCallum said: “It is great to have such an exciting young talent sign for the club.

“It is our vision to help support many young Scottish female players to flourish, both in their education and football, with part-time professional contracts.

“Both myself and my backroom team are looking forward to working with Caitlin over the coming years, to continue to develop her, both as a person and a football player.”

Caitlin said: “I am really excited to sign for Gartcairn.

“It is a fantastic club with a great coaching staff and a great group of players.

“I have watched games and clips on YouTube and I really enjoy the attacking style of play, which I am really eager to get involved in.

“I can really see myself developing here by playing in SWPL2, with the coaches and team-mates pushing me to be better.

“I am really grateful for the opportunity and the faith Gartcairn have given me.

“I am really looking forward to the next season and beyond.”
