Galway 'very confident' ahead of Cork showdown - Carrie Dolan

Carrie Dolan has said Galway are feeling "very confident" ahead of their All-Ireland camogie final rematch against defending champions Cork this weekend.

The Tribeswomen defeated the Rebels when they faced each other in the 2021 final, but Sunday's match in Croke Park (5.15pm) will be the fourth consecutive All-Ireland final that Cork will contest.

Galway needed a late comeback, powered by Dolan, against Tipperary in the semi-final to make it to the showpiece event and have an opportunity to dethrone champions Cork.

"Galway’s performance was questioned throughout the year. Probably wasn’t the prettiest game to watch but when it came down to it, Galway dug it out and that was most pleasing for us," Dolan told RTÉ Sport.

Looking ahead to the final, she said the squad believe that they have enough to go toe-to-toe with Cork and win the match.

"I suppose if you go up there believing otherwise, you’ll find out about it pretty straight away," she said.

"We’re very confident and we believe we’re going to win this All-Ireland final."

The Galway forward scored five crucial frees in the win over Tipperary and admitted she was just happy to see the final one go over the bar when the pressure was on.

"You’re practicing every day for those frees, they’re the hardest ones to take. The ones in the middle of the game are second nature, really. But when it comes down to putting one foot in the All-Ireland final ... just delighted it went over," Dolan said.

However, despite losing players from the triumphant 2021 team, Dolan said the new players on the panel showed "great character and resilience" when "our backs were against the wall" to come back against Tipperary.
