Galway maintain march to Premier Division beating Bray

Galway United took another step forward towards a return to the top tier of Irish football with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Bray Wanderers at Eamon Deacy Park.

Stephen Walsh bagged a brace with a goal either side of half-time to put Galway in control of the game, before David Hurley sealed the three points, scoring the third of the night.

Galway pushed two points further clear of second placed Waterford, who drew with Athlone Town, to now enjoy an 18-point lead at the top of the table with just 12 matches to play.

Waterford had to fight back to grab a late point after Jamar Campion-Hinds' goal handed Athlone the lead in the 28th minute.

The home side looked set to secure all three points, however, they conceded in injury time with Cameron Cresswell snatching an injury-time equaliser to hand Waterford a point.

Bottom side Kerry were beaten once again, but they came close to securing a point against Finn Harps.

The Donegal outfit took the lead in the 53rd minute through Ryan Flood, however, Samuel Aladesanusi levelled matters with four minutes remaining.

But BJ Banda secured all three points for Harps with a goal in the fifth minute of injury time.

Elsewhere, Wexford moved into the play-off places with a 1-0 win over Treaty United thanks to a Thomas Oluwa goal in the 43rd minute.
