First Division wrap: Waterford win as Galway United drop points

Waterford cut Galway United's vast lead at the top of the SSE Airtricity Men's First Division down to 16 points after a 3-0 win over Kerry at the RSC.

Goals in each half from Conor Parsons and Roland Idowu as well as a stoppage-time effort from Ronan Coughlan were enough to secure all three points for Keith Long's side on a night that saw Galway held to a 2-2 draw at Finn Harps.

Ronan Manning gave John Caulfield's side the lead in Donegal but they were down to ten shortly after when Vincent Borden was sent off.

Harps levelled via Sean O'Donnell just after the break and though Robert Slevin restored Galway's lead midway through the second half, a late, late goal from Daithi McCallion ensured that the visitors dropped points.

However they maintain a huge gap at the top over Waterford and remain well on course for automatic promotion to the Premier Division.

Elsewhere, ten-man Longford Town came from behind to win 3-2 at Treaty United, with Cristian Magerusan's brace proving crucial.

Third-placed Cobh Ramblers fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Wexford thanks to Jack Doherty's late equaliser from the spot, while it also ended 2-2 between Bray Wanderers and Athlone Town at the Carlisle Grounds.

The Seagulls finished with nine men after red cards for David Webster and Cole Omorehiomwan.
