Funniest goal ever? Alexsandar Mitrovic's strike for Fulham last season is still hilarious

Aleksandar Mitrović is one fire during the 2022/23 camapign.

The Fulham striker has scored six goals in seven Premier League appearances this season – including a brace on the opening weekend against Liverpool.

During this recent international break, he scored a hat-trick for Serbia against Sweden during a 4-1 win. He then bagged another during a 2-0 win over Norway.

Mitro scored a record-breaking 43 goals in 44 Championship appearances for Fulham last season as they romped to the title to earn promotion back to the Premier League.

While he’s established himself as a great goalscorer, Mitrovic isn’t necessarily a scorer of great goals. He’s your traditional No.9, a poacher with the vast majority of his strikes coming inside the box.

But as we all know, every goal counts. Whether it’s a one-yard tap-in or a 30-yard screamer, they all count.

And with Mitrovic banging in goals left, right and centre we wanted to remember possibly the funniest goal of his career last season.

It happened during Fulham’s 5-1 victory away to Huddersfield at the start of the 2021/22 season.

Mitrovic was about to embark on a ridiculous goalscoring campaign but he couldn’t have got any luckier when opening the scoring that afternoon.

The goal came about when one Huddersfield player tried to prevent conceding a throw near the halfway line and played a long pass back to the goalkeeper, Ryan Schofield.

Schofield had to scamper to keep the ball in play to prevent the corner. He did just that by controlling the ball on his chest. However, his touch saw the ball spin back and Schofield panicked by volleying the ball away in an attempt to save a corner.
