Man Utd now 'keen on signing' 119-goal England star at Old Trafford

Manchester United are keen on signing Tammy Abraham next summer, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

The striker only left the Premier League 12 months ago, but he’s already been linked with a swift return to English shores.

Abraham came through the ranks at Chelsea, but the arrival of Romelu Lukaku last summer meant he slipped down the pecking order and made the switch to Roma, linking up with Jose Mourinho.

He enjoyed a successful first season and won the Europa Conference League, which caught the attention of United, who were hoping to solve their striker problems by bringing the ex-Chelsea man to Old Trafford.

According to Calciomercato, Erik ten Hag was impressed with Abraham's form at the Stadio Olimpico, although United soon turned their attention to Antony and ended up failing to bring in a frontman altogether.

But with Cristiano Ronaldo's future in serious doubt and Anthony Martial suffering with constant injury problems, the latest coming at Everton last weekend, the Dutchman still needs to bolster his attacking options.

And Phillips reckons United are still in the race to sign Abraham ahead of next summer, although he'll still have three years left on his deal, meaning the Italian giants will be in a strong position around the negotiating table.

He told GIVEMESPORT: "I am told that Manchester United are keen on signing Abraham in the summer."

Abraham enjoyed a scintillating first year with Roma, registering 27 goals in 53 games and claimed that he's been turned into a 'monster' by Mourinho.

But the 25-year-old is yet to really get going this time around, scoring just twice in nine top-flight appearances, while he hasn't got off the mark in the Europa League.
