'Frustrating' - Marlon Fossey's first words after injury ends Fulham loanee's Bolton season early

Marlon Fossey admits it has been an 'honour' to play for Bolton Wanderers and get regular game time as he revealed frustration that an injury has ended his season early.

The 23-year-old's time on the pitch this season has come to a premature end after he suffered a torn meniscus.

The wing-back limped off towards the end of last weekend's loss to Plymouth Argyle and he is having surgery on the injury today, which will cut short his involvement on the pitch at Wanderers this season, which is a big blow for both the player and Bolton.

Fossey has been a huge success at Wanderers since arriving on loan from Fulham at the start of the January transfer window.

He made 16 appearances and scored once, helping Wanderers in their climb up the League One table over the past couple of months.

The Fulham loanee is on the radar of Wanderers this summer and Ian Evatt frankly admits Bolton want to sign the wing-back, who will have a year left on his deal at Craven Cottage in the next transfer window.

For now, Fossey has taken to Twitter to send a message to Wanderers fans after his season was curtailed early and admits it has been an 'honour' to play week in, week out for Bolton.

And he has sent his best wishes to the supporters and those at the club.

He said: "Playing week in, week out for this club and with this team has been an honour, so it’s frustrating that an injury has cut things short.

"I think it’s safe to say that I’ll never have a chant that tops the one I have here.

"Love to the fans & everyone involved at the club."
