Gethin Jones back and formation change? Bolton Wanderers predicted team vs Wigan Athletic

Gethin Jones will be back available for selection at Bolton Wanderers for tomorrow's clash against Wigan Athletic.

The Wanderers vice-captain has been absent of late due to being on compassionate leave following the death of his mother Karen.

The Wanderers squad attended her funeral in support of Jones and his family and the defender has returned to the club now, getting some minutes under his belt last week for the club's reserves against Fleetwood Town.

Jones is now back available for selection and Bolton boss Ian Evatt believes it is a huge boost to have the defender back available as they prepare to take on the Latics tomorrow.

Evatt said: "It’s huge. Somebody showed me our record when he is in the team and it is pretty strong. He is a really good character, a big part of our dressing room and a big part of our team.

"With what happened, the last few weeks has shown that and we are really lucky to have him. We are grateful to have him back, lots to be positive about."

James Trafford is likely to continue as goalkeeper, fresh from his outings with England's under-20s.

With Jones back available for selection, Evatt faces a choice of whether to stick with the back three he has employed since mid-January or, with no Marlon Fossey or Lloyd Isgrove to call upon for the right wing-back role, to switch to a rearguard of four defenders.

Assuming Evatt sticks with a back three, Will Aimson could continue on the right, with Ricardo Almeida Santos in the middle and George Johnston on the left.

Jones could then line up at right wing-back, with Declan John on the left.
