Fresh progress made toward £3.5m Cardiff, Bournemouth deal

Cardiff City striker Kieffer Moore is having a medical with Bournemouth this morning ahead of a £3.5 million move, according to Mark McAdam from Sky Sports. 

The 29-year-old scored 20 Championship goals for the Bluebirds this season but has been hampered by injury this term and not looked as lethal, finding the net five times in total.

Even so, it seems as though Moore is set to join the promotion-chasing Cherries before the window closes this evening.

That’s according to Mark McAdam, who has reported that Bournemouth have agreed a deal with Cardiff for the target man.

It is understood that the fee is around £3.5 million for the Wales international, who will have a medical with the South Coast club this morning.

Moore spent time in non-league football in the early part of his career but has been scoring goals regularly in the EFL for a number of seasons now – firing Barnsley to the Championship in 2018/19 before joining Wigan Athletic and then Cardiff.

His current deal in the Welsh capital runs until the summer of 2023 but it seems we may have seen him in a Bluebirds shirt for the last time.

The Verdict

This could turn out to be a smart bit of business for the Cherries and looks to be part of a late-window push as they look to strengthen Scott Parker’s squad ahead of the second half of the 2021/22 campaign.

Dom Solanke is a fantastic striker but adding some cover and competition for him makes a lot of sense, particularly given Moore has a completely different skillset.

Losing the towering forward is a concern for Cardiff, though their performance against Nottingham Forest without him yesterday suggests they should have too much to be relegated this term.
