Frenkie de Jong's Man United transfer stance still backed up by girlfriend's Instagram hint

Frenkie de Jong has expressed he is content at Barcelona, dismissing rumours of a potential move to Manchester United.

And that echoes the sentiments of his girlfriend when the Red Devils previously pursued him. His partner Mikky Kiemeney had used social media to demonstrate their happiness in Spain when United first showed interest back in 2022.

The social media influencer shared a video of the couple wake surfing, captioning it: "Meanwhile... living our best life." She also added alongside the clip: "Found another gem in Catalunya."

As De Jong prepares for his sixth season with Barcelona, having missed Euro 2024 due to an ankle injury, speculation about a possible move to United has resurfaced. However, the Dutchman has confirmed his desire to stay at Barcelona, despite reports that the Spanish club might be willing to sell him for approximately £51m (€60m) plus additional payments, reports the Mirror.

With Barcelona heading into the 2024/25 season under new manager Hansi Flick, De Jong acknowledged that he and his family are happy in Barcelona and that he had a positive conversation with the German boss. "Staying at Barca? Yes, I'm very happy in Barcelona with my family, for sure," De Jong insisted.

"Hansi Flick wants me to be key? I talked to him. It was good," he added. The 27-year-old's potential move to United hit a standstill in 2022 despite an initial £56million agreement with Barcelona, with personal terms failing to be finalised.
