Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff has been named as the new head coach of the England Lions.

The appointment comes after the former all-rounder returned to cricket by working with the England white-ball team. He also coached The Hundred outfit Northern Superchargers in this year's competition.

The ex-Lancashire CCC and England cricketer has, recently, been on our TV screens with his wholesome hit show Field of Dreams, where he took a group of young cricket players from his hometown of Preston on a tour of India to show how sport can change their lives. The popular show has already been commissioned for a third series with filming starting already.

Flintoff has spent time with the England Test team this week as they take on Sri Lanka at The Oval. He presented a cap to debutant Josh Hull on Friday morning, with Hull then taking his maiden wicket on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking upon his international appointment, Flintoff, 46, said: "I'm incredibly excited to take on this role with the England Lions. It's a fantastic opportunity to work with some of the best up-and-coming talent in the country, and to help shape the future of the men's game."

Flintoff added: "It's an exciting time for English cricket. I'm
