Frazer Clarke to seize opportunity on undercard of Amir Khan vs Kell Brook

Team GB Olympic medallist Frazer Clarke still can’t believe he is about to make his professional debut on the undercard of one of the biggest fights of the year, but he is determined to make the most of it.

Clarke will face Jake Darnell on the undercard of Amir Khan‘s highly anticipated showdown with Kell Brook on Saturday at the AO Arena at Hunts Bank in Manchester.

The 30-year-old from Burton-on-Trent, who is currently represented by Anthony Joshua‘s management company 258 MGT, has also signed a promotional deal with next gen outfit BOXXER and is being coached by Angel Fernandez.

Affectionately known as ‘Big Fraze’ by boxing fans, Clarke won a bronze medal in the super-heavyweight category at Tokyo 2020, before making the decision to turn professional.

Clarke’s list of achievements also include a gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, a silver medal at the 2017 European Championships and gold medals at the 2014 and 2018 European Union Championships. 

And while he says he is looking forward to making his debut this weekend, he admits it still hasn’t fully sunk in yet.

“No, if I’m being honest,” Clarke exclusively told GiveMeSport.

“I always knew the reason I started boxing and wanted to go to the Olympics was because I wanted to be involved in cards like this.

“But to land on this one and to have such a connection to both fighters, Kell being from Sheffield and Amir being one of my biggest inspirations for the Olympics, it’s great for me.

“It’s all fun and games isn’t it but I’m here for business.

“I’m here to do what I came here to do and that’s win the fight.

“I’ve waited a long time for this opportunity and I’m going to grab it with both hands.”
