Amir Khan future: Kell Brook's emphatic rematch message

Amir Khan is considering a rematch against bitter rival Kell Brook, after the two battled it out in Manchester last month.

It ended in a brutal TKO in the sixth round for Brook, who owns the bragging rights over the feud that lasted almost 20 years.

Brook controlled the fight against Khan, who hinted post-fight that he could retire, but it seems as though the Bolton-born fighter has changed his mind since.

Khan has a rematch clause in the contract, and despite saying he had fallen out of love with the sport, another fight could be on the cards.

As expected, Brook is more than up for the challenge, as he told Sky Sports: “If he wants another whooping, he can have another whooping.

“It was so one-sided; I don’t know what he can say and come back to the table with. If he wants that rematch, I’ll dust them gloves off and do it again.”

The grudge match was years in the making, with both sides unable to reach an agreement whilst both fighters were in their prime. A rematch clause could see the two men back in the ring sooner than any of us expected.

Boxing promoter Ben Shalom, who organised the fight, said: “I think the word on the street is true – Amir Khan doesn’t want to call it a day.

“He has spent a lot of time thinking about the fight the past couple of weeks and he feels like he had ten weeks to prepare and Kell Brook had six months.

“So he feels hard done by. I don’t know whether that fight is even possible, but he does have that rematch clause.”

If the two men agree to a rematch, it is difficult to see a way for Khan to beat Brook who totally outclassed him last time out.
