Fraser Forster to Celtic transfer floated as THIRD spell offers 'interesting' Joe Hart exit solution

A return of Fraser Forster would be an "interesting" option for Celtic this summer reckons Neil Lennon.

The goalkeeper is currently working with Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham but will be out of contract at the end of the English Premier League campaign. Ge first arrived in Glasgow on loan from Newcastle United in 2010 and stayed on a temporary basis until the end of the 2011/12 campaign before joining permanently - and he be brought back for a second spell in Glasgow's east end by Lennon for the 2019-20 campaign while on the books at Southampton.

Lennon had been set to make the move from St Mary's permanent back in 2020 but turned down the deal - leading to flop goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas being brought in as the new first-choice during the disastrous bid for a 10th consecutive title. With Joe Hart set to hang up his gloves at the end of the season, Celtic are now on the look-out for a goalkeeper - and Lennon admits the decision could be crucial for Brendan Rodgers.

Speaking to PLZ, he said: "It's interesting for Celtic. I would be surprised if Matt O'Riley didn't have suitors in the summer. So Joe (Hart) is leaving. Matt is leaving. Those have been the two most consistent players this season, so Celtic have a bit of work to do.

"They need a really top number one. That is where you build your best teams from. I know from my own time with Fraser Forster that it's a precious commodity."

Host Peter Martin noted that 36-year-old Forster would be available in the summer. Lennon said: "He might be. I don't know if he would come back a third time but it would be interesting."
