Bundee Aki, Dan Sheehan and Jamison Gibson Park nominated at Rugby Players Ireland awards

Bundee Aki, Dan Sheehan and Jamison Gibson-Park have all been nominated for Men's XVs Players' Player of the Year at next week's Rugby Players Ireland awards.

The trio are included off the back of their performances for Ireland at the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France, as well as the successful Guinness Six Nations championship in 2024.

Aki was Ireland's standout player at the World Cup, scoring five tries and playing every minute in Ireland's campaign, leading to a nomination for World Rugby men's Player of the Year in November. The Connacht centre was also nominated for Player of the Championship in the Six Nations.

Sheehan started every game for Ireland in their Six Nations campaign, and scored five tries as Andy Farrell's side won back-to-back titles, while Gibson-Park is the final nominee, with the 32-year-old enjoying the best year of his career, scoring nine tries in 22 games for both Leinster and Ireland.

The Women's XVs Player's Player of the Year will be contested by back rows Aoife Wafer and Brittany Hogan, and scrum-half Aoibheann Reilly.

All three started every game for Scott Bemand's side in their Six Nations campaign, which saw Ireland finish third in the table to qualify for both next year's World Cup, and the top division of WXV later this season.

Wafer (below) is also nominated for the Young Player of the Year award, with the 21-year-old joined on the shortlist by her Leinster and Ireland team-mates Katie Corrigan and Dannah O'Brien.

Among the other awards, Munster's Tom Ahern and Jack Crowley, as well as Leinster's Joe McCarthy have been nominated for the Nevin Spence Men's XV Player of the Year.

The winners will be named at next week's Rugby Player Ireland awards in Dublin on Wednesday, 22 May.
