Frank McGarvey in candid Celtic fan address as he says 'this might be my last time to see them'

Frank McGarvey has emotionally admitted he may have watched Celtic live for the final time.

The legendary former forward who scored over 100 goals for the Hoops was fittingly at Parkhead on Saturday as James Forrest became the 30th Celtic player to reach a century of goals during a 6-1 thrashing of Hibs. McGarvey was told recently that he has cancer and he appeared at half-time to provide an emotional address to the fans and thank them for their support.

McGarvey famously scored the winner in the 1985 Scottish Cup final versus Dundee United, and the 66-year-old says his time in Glasgow's east-end was a dream he didn't think possible. He told Celtic TV: "I just wanted to tell the Celtic fans I love them very much. I want to thank them for everything that they have done for me. To score that goal (in the 1985 Scottish Cup final) when I was wee boy in Easterhouse, I dreamed of those things.

"They were never, ever, going to happen. And that day, I made all the fans happy. I've been to the hospital and they have told me what is probably going to happen to me.

"So this might be my last time to see them. So I just thank them for everything. Celtic Football Club is because of the fans.

"It is just a big family and when you come and see your family for the last time, maybe, it's kind of sad."
