Frank Lampard tells Everton to sign Manchester United outcast before transfer deadline

Everton are primed to enter the race to sign Donny van de Beek from Manchester United on Frank Lampard’s recommendation.

The Chelsea legend is set to be appointed as Rafa Benitez’s successor after a chaotic search from the Spaniard’s replacement neared its conclusion on Friday evening.

Vitor Pereira appeared to be the frontrunner, but the former Porto and Fenerbahce boss’s impending arrival drew a furious backlash from an already disgruntled fanbase, who were highly skeptical of the decision to appoint Bentiez in the summer due to his links with Liverpool.

Lampard impressed during a second interview and will now be given the task of galvanising a club that has slipped dangerously close to the relegation zone following a disastrous run of results.

The 43-year-old is chomping at the bit after he was sacked by Chelsea 12 months ago and, according to Fabrizio Romano, already has ideas as to who he wants to sign during the closing stages of the transfer window.

Van de Beek has again played a bit-part role at Old Trafford this season and appears surplus to the requirements of Ralf Rangnick having started only two matches since the German replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

According to Sky Sports, Palace stepped up their interest in the United midfielder after Gunners hero Dennis Bergkamp – who is Van de Beek’s father-in-law – contacted his former team-mate Patrick Vieira to discuss a possible deal.
