Rio Ferdinand reveals what he’s heard from people at Everton about Manchester United loanee Donny van de Beek

Rio Ferdinand has shared what he has heard from people at Everton about Donny van de Beek following the Manchester United loanee’s move to Goodison Park.

The Netherlands international joined the Toffees in the January transfer window after struggling for regular playing time at United.

Van de Beek made his Everton debut off the bench in the defeat to Newcastle, but was named in Frank Lampard’s starting XI for last weekend’s 3-0 over Leeds.

The 24-year-old impressed in the middle of the park as Lampard picked up his first victory as Everton boss.

Van de Beek is also turning heads and has ‘lifted the levels’ on the training pitch at his new club, according to United legend Rio Ferdinand.

‘I’ve been speaking to a few people at the club and they’ve said that he’s gone in there and lifted the levels, training-wise,’ Ferdinand told Vibe with FIVE.

‘[He’s a] great lad, first and foremost, but you can see. A lot of them are going, ‘Wow, he’s this good, they must be unbelievable at Manchester United if he can’t get in’.’

Van de Beek’s performance against Leeds also caught the eye of his manager Lampard, who praised the midfielder for his work on and off the ball.

‘I knew Donny as a player from the outside and I brought him here because of his talent in terms of his play, his intelligence and his work ethic,’ said the Toffees manager.
