Frank Lampard’s four Everton transfers to address problem positions at Goodison Park

After Everton’s dramatic end to the 2021/22 campaign which saw them escape relegation in the penultimate match of the season, all eyes are turning to the summer as the Blues aim to bring in a host of new names to help them avoid a similar fate next year.

This is arguably where the real work will begin for manager Frank Lampard as he’ll look to work alongside new director of football Kevin Thelwell to identify and secure the signature of key targets.

In terms of positions, there are several that the Toffees will be eager to strengthen. We can expect that it will be right-back, central defence and central midfield which will be their priority.

However depending on outgoings, there’s every chance a new forward could be needed too. Therefore has taken a look at who Everton could target this summer.

The right-back position has been a problematic one for some time at Everton. Seamus Coleman has been one of the division’s best in that area over the years, though now 33, it’s fair to say that his abilities have started to wane.

Everton seemed to have addressed the issue by signing highly-rated Rangers defender Nathan Patterson in January. However the 20-year-old is still adjusting to life at Goodison Park. He made just one appearance which came in the FA Cup against Boreham Wood before suffering an ankle injury in April which cut his campaign short.

There’s a sense that he won’t be quite ready to succeed Coleman next season, therefore Everton could need another short term option to add a greater cover to that area of the pitch. That’s why pursuing a short term deal for a player like Frederic Guilbert could be ideal.
