Everton: Moshiri 'would be mad' to make big decision at Goodison Park

Everton manager Frank Lampard has a “real chance of being a success” at the club after keeping them in the Premier League, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

Lampard arrived at Goodison Park in January and just about managed to keep the Toffees above the bottom three.

Lampard’s time at Everton did not get off to a particularly impressive start as he won just one of his first six league games in charge.

In late March, RMC Sport reported that Everton were interested in Rennes manager Bruno Genesio, and had identified him as a possible replacement for Lampard.

However, Lampard was able to turn things around in the nick of time, with Everton winning four games in the final weeks of the season against Manchester United, Chelsea, Leicester and Crystal Palace.

The final win against the Eagles came in their penultimate match, and secured their place in the Premier League for another year.

Having kept Everton in England’s top division, Brown thinks Everton owner Farhad Moshiri would be making a huge mistake if he got rid of Lampard at this stage.

Brown believes Lampard could do well with the team next term if they have a strong pre-season and manage to bolster their squad in the transfer window.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think they’d be mad to let him go now. I think with a good pre-season and some decent signings, and time to teach the squad how he wants them to play, he’s got a real chance of being a success.”
