Everton fans have told Frank Lampard and Kevin Thelwell where the club's next transfer priority should lie.

The Blues are said to be closing in on their first arrival of the summer transfer window, with reports suggesting James Tarkowski is nearing a free transfer to Merseyside. The centre-back has left Burnley upon the expiry of his contract and is on the hunt for a new club ahead of the 2022/23 term.

Over 76% of those who took part believe that a midfielder should be next on the list for manager Lampard and director of football Thelwell to chase. Among the many tweets in response to the poll, many further narrowed that down to a defensive midfielder, with many highlighting the Blues' real need for someone to break up the play in front of the backline.

Others believed that a box-to-box or attacking player in the centre was required. But, the overwhelming majority believed that overall position on the pitch is in most need of immediate improvement.

Coming in a distant second was another forward, with rumours swirling around the future of Richarlison. Spurs have been linked in recent days with a swoop for the Brazil international, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin's future also remains uncertain.
