Four Manchester United players have a point to prove to Erik ten Hag in Lyon fixture

Manchester United will step up their pre-season preparations when they take on Lyon in their second friendly of the summer at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh this afternoon.

United made a winning start to their pre-season campaign with a comfortable 2-0 win over Leeds United in Oslo last week. Second half goals from substitutes Noam Emeran and Joe Hugill got the job done for Erik ten Hag's side.

The Dutchman, who is edging closer to adding Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana to his squad, used 22 players in Norway, making 11 alterations at half-time. His line-up in the first half featured a blend of household names and youngsters targeting a first-team role while his second half XI was awash with academy players.

United took a 26-man squad to Norway with them and it is highly likely to be the same pool of players that will travel to Murrayfield this afternoon, with the club's crop of international stars not expected to make their first appearances of pre-season until Saturday's clash with Arsenal in the opening game of the club's tour of the United States.

When it comes to consistency with starting line-ups, few are more repetitive than Ten Hag; he rarely makes changes on mass and that could dictate his thinking for his starting line-up later today. It would be no surprise see him name the same XI that started against Leeds.
