Byrne and Prendergast start as Ireland ring changes for England clash

Ross Byrne and Cian Prendergast have been handed starts by Andy Farrell for Ireland's Rugby World Cup warm-up match against England on Saturday, while Keith Earls is in line to win his 100th cap off the bench.

Leinster out-half Byrne gets his chance with Johnny Sexton suspended and Jack Crowley, who started the win over Italy two weeks ago, on the bench.

Connacht back row row Prendergast earns his third cap, stepping in for Jack Conan, who suffered a foot injury against the Azzurri.

Munster wing Earls was named on the bench and is sure to receive a huge cheer from the Aviva Stadium crowd when introduced for his 100th cap.

Farrell has named a completely differing starting XV with regular full-back Hugo Keenan restored to the team; he will have Mack Hansen and James Lowe on the wings.

Garry Ringrose and Bundee Aki start in the centre with Jamison Gibson-Park at scrum-half.

In the pack, Andrew Porter, Dan Sheehan and Tadhg Furlong form a formidable front row, with Tadhg Beirne and captain James Ryan in the second row.

Peter O’Mahony comes back on the blindside with Josh van der Flier at openside and Prendergast at number 8.

Recent call-up Jeremy Loughlan is among the front row replacements alongside hooker Rob Herring and Finlay Bealham.

Joe McCarthy and Caelan Doris also provide cover in the pack, while Conor Murray and Crowley join Earls on the bench.
