Fotis Ioannidis Celtic transfer link re emerges as Panathinaikos 'price tag' named amid major interest across Europe

Celtic are reportedly retaining their interest in Panathinaikos striker Fotis Ioannidis - but are just one of a host of European clubs hoping to land the Greek international.

Ioannidis, who has netted 21 times in 38 games this season, was previously linked with a switch to Parkhead in March 2023, before penning a new deal at Panathinaikos two months later. The 24-year-old is now contracted with the Greek top-flight club until the summer of 2027 and has scored two goals in 10 caps at international level since making his debut in September 2022.

But according to calciomercato, Celtic are one of several clubs across the continent who are keen admirers of the player, who helped Panathinaikos to glory in the Greek Cup in 2022. The report also states that the likes of Bologna, Stuttgart, Sporting CP, Sevilla, Eintracht Frankfurt and West Ham are all keeping tabs on Ioannidis, who Panathinaikos value at around £12.8million [€15m]. The report adds that Rome giants Lazio also see the striker as a replacement for legendary Ciro Immobile, who could end his eight year stay at the Stadio Olimpico by swapping Italy for the middle east next summer.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers was frustrated in his attempts to sign a forward on a permanent basis in the January transfer window, with young Irish striker Adam Idah arriving on a deadline day loan from Norwich City. The 23-year old has provided competition for Kyogo Furuhashi with five goals in his first 10 matches.

The fans' favourite has struggled to replicate his goalscoring form from last season having netted just 15 goals in 41 matches while fellow striker Oh Hyeon-gyu has managed just five goals in 26 games.
