Former WWE star Johnny Gargano praises top AEW tag teams

Former WWE star Johnny Gargano recently spoke to Good Karma Wrestling, praising two of AEW’s top tag teams. 

Johnny Gargano hasn’t been seen in a wrestling organisation since the 8th of December edition of NXT, where he closed out the show, getting attacked by Grayson Waller.

There has been major speculation about where Gargano will end up as he left WWE on good terms, and AEW is interested. 

Gargano was the heart and soul of NXT and was one of the main assets during the Wednesday night wars between NXT’s black and gold brand and AEW Dynamite. 

Tony Khan capitalised on this Wednesday war, acquiring the likes of Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, Samoa Joe, Bobby Fish, Keith Lee, and Swerve Strickland from NXT when their contracts expired.

However, speaking on Good Karma Wrestling, Gargano reflected on his rivalry alongside Tomasso Ciampa in DIY and their war with The Revival, now known in AEW as FTR. 

DIY and The Revival to this day provided arguably the best rivalry and series of matches that WWE has ever seen, which involved two different NXT Takeovers where the two teams crossed paths. 

When discussing Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, Gargano stated that FTR has been the best take team for a “very, very, very long time” and that they are “currently the best tag team in the world”.

Furthermore, Gargano had good words to say about former AEW Tag Team Champions, The Young Bucks, stating that the Bucks and FTR are “once in a generation tag teams”.

The Young Bucks and FTR have dominated the tag team division recently, with FTR currently holding the IWGP, AAA and ROH World Tag Team Championships and The Young Bucks being former AEW World Tag Team Champions after last night’s Dynamite, where they lost to Swerve In Our Glory.
