Former Tottenham striker blasts Conte for ‘Spursy’ run of form

Teddy Sheringham has criticised Antonio Conte’s body language as Tottenham struggle to find some consistency under the Italian head coach.

The north Londoners were knocked out of the FA Cup by Championship side Middlesbrough, days after comfortably beating Leeds 4-0 at Elland Road.

Every good result seems to be backed up with a poor result and performance, and Sheringham has labelled Tottenham’s current form as ‘Spursy’.

The former Man Utd and Tottenham striker believes that Conte’s body language has a large bearing on how his side plays, saying that how he behaves “can go from one extreme to the next”.

“It’s very up and down, very Spursy. I think tonight (vs Everton) is going to go down on body language. When you look at Conte, his body language can go from one extreme to the next,” Sheringham told Sky Sports (quotes via Football London).

“At Manchester City, he was jumping around and then at Middlesbrough in the FA Cup, he was down and not his usual self. I thought that they were improving under his guidance at the start of his time at the club, but I’m unsure what the direction is from here.”
