Footballer-turned-pundit Jill Scott congratulates Maidstone United Women on promotion as she visits the Gallagher Stadium
Former England star Jill Scott has congratulated Maidstone United Women on their “incredible” promotion.
Scott won 161 caps for the Lionesses, retiring shortly after their European Championship success in 2022.
The ex-Everton and Manchester City midfielder, 39, has forged a successful career in the media as a TV pundit, and hailed Maidstone’s title success on a visit to the Gallagher Stadium.
The Stones will be playing in London & South East Regional League Division 1 North next season after winning the South East Counties Premier Division, and they also lifted the Kent Plate as part of a league and cup double.
“Hi, everyone at Maidstone United women’s team,” said Scott, in her video message.
“I just want to say a massive congratulations on your season. Promotion - that is incredible.
“It shows that you’ve been consistent all season and that is definitely not easy, so I just want to wish you the best of luck with your rise into the next league, and make sure you keep working hard and look out for each other.
“Who knows - another promotion?”
