Former Manchester United star sends Erik ten Hag goalkeeper warning amid Andre Onana transfer

Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke has said his former club must “be careful what they wish for” with David de Gea allowed to leave and Andre Onana set to replace him.

De Gea left Old Trafford after 12 years of service this summer upon the expiry of his contract. Erik ten Hag has acted fast and is poised to land Onana in a £47.2m deal that will see him become the new No.1.

However, Yorke previously inferred that the Inter goalkeeper might not necessarily be up to the same standard as De Gea. Speaking recently to Boyle Sports, he said: “Man United have to be careful what they wish for. You don't win the Golden Glove if you're not a good goalkeeper.

“I know he [De Gea] made mistakes and some of them at crucial times, but who doesn't do that? I don't think the goalkeepers that Man United want are anywhere near as good as De Gea, so they need to be careful what they wish for.

"Playing in the Premier League and for a club like United is irresistible,” he told Italian media this week.

“All parties wanted this to happen. Now I really want to start this new experience, exciting and with a coach who for me is a master.

"I will go to a great league and a great club, which has a huge history just like that
