Former Manchester United star Paul Pogba facing four-year ban after B sample 'confirms positive drugs test'

Paul Pogba is facing the prospect of a four-year ban from football after his positive drugs test was confirmed by a second sample, according to reports from Italy.

The former Manchester United midfielder tested positive for testosterone in August and was provisionally suspended by Juventus ahead of the taking of a B sample. That second sample has now reportedly come back as positive. The maximum punishment for such a breach of doping rules could be a suspension from football of up to four years, and a positive test throws Pogba's future at Juventus into doubt.

The French international and World Cup winner returned to Turin following the expiration of his contract at Old Trafford in the summer of 2022. However, his second coming in Italy was derailed by a meniscus injury that saw him miss most of the season.

Pogba played just 161 minutes of football over 10 games as he was hounded by injury setbacks and made two appearances in the new season before he was provisionally suspended.
