Liverpool FC star Andy Robertson admits his love for former Manchester United striker

Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson has admitted he would have liked to have played alongside former Manchester United striker Henrik Larsson.

The Swedish striker had a short-lived spell at Old Trafford after joining on loan from Helsingborgs in January 2007. He would make just 13 appearances for Sir Alex Ferguson's side, scoring three goals before his temporary spell at the club came to an end.

Despite Larsson not leaving a huge legacy behind, Robertson was in no doubt about which player he would play alongside if he could pick any player who has played in the Premier League. Robertson said when asked to name a player: "Henrik Larsson when he played at Manchester United. Growing up, he was my idol."

While he would have to play for Liverpool's bitter rivals to play with Larsson in the Premier League, Robertson's love for the Swede was forged long before he arrived in the north west. When asked about the 52-year-old, as relayed by Football Scotland in 2021, the defender explained how his love for the ex-United man started.

"He's my guy," Robertson explained. "He was a huge part of why me and my brother and all my mates used to go out in the back garden and score goals and do the Larsson celebration - sticking your tongue out and everything.

"He's one of the greatest players to play for Celtic." During his time in Glasgow, Larsson scored 176 goals in 234 appearances, earning him a move to La Liga giants Barcelona.
