Former Man United star Cristiano Ronaldo faces Saudi FA investigation after alleged obscene gesture

Former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo is under the spotlight after allegedly making an obscene gesture following Al-Nassr's 3-2 triumph Al-Shabab on Sunday.

Al-Nassr chalked up their 17th victory of the Saudi Pro League campaign via a late winner from Anderson Talisca. The Brazilian netted his second goal of the game with 86 minutes on the clock after Carlos Junior had earlier equalised for the home team.

Ronaldo had got in on the act himself after just 21 minutes, scoring the game's opening goal to put Al-Nassr 1-0 ahead via the penalty spot. That marked his 22nd league goal of the campaign.

Though his goal was the important aspect of his evening's work, he dominated the headlines post-match for something that happened following the full-time whistle. Footage captured and shared on social media appeared to show Ronaldo cupping his ear before repeatedly pumping his hand forward in front of his pelvic area.

Appearing to aim his actions at the Al-Shabab fans, chants of "Messi" could be heard in the background. The Argentine international is, of course, a historic rival of Ronaldo's from the time the duo spent playing in LaLiga for Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively.

Though the events were not shared on TV, Ronaldo was criticised by Saudi pundits for his post-match actions. Despite no official response being made, Saudi newspaper Asharq al-Awsat said the national football federation (SAFF) had opened an investigation to look into the incident.
