Former Celtic star thrilled as daughter thrives in 'really exciting' Hoops opportunity

Tiree Burchill is enjoying a loan spell at Hamilton from Celtic - with dad and former Hoops forward Mark is delighted by her progress.

The Scotland youth international made her Hoops debut last year and joined Accies in December to gain regular SWPL 1 minutes.

She captained Scotland's u17s side for a spell last month in a 6-0 win over Azerbaijan as the teenager's promise begins to show.

It's been a tough season for Gary Doctor's side at the top table of Scottish women's football, finding themselves bottom of the league. But their Celtic loanee has impressed.

Her dad started his career at Parkhead and is now chief scout at English Championship club Bournemouth. All he wants is his child to enjoy her craft.

The 41-year-old told Behind the Goals: "As a parent, you would do anything for your child to be successful, no matter what it is. Fortunately for me, my daughter wants to play football.

"It's fantastic. I've said to her that she's got an opportunity now that girls and women before her didn't really have. It's really exciting.

"When Tiree started, the girls were pushed to the side a touched. But now they are getting the same treatment as the boys game.

"I'm just trying to instil in her to be professional."
