Celtic star opens up on his 'biggest drive' at Hoops as he states 'the memes are a good laugh' amid funny nickname

Anthony Ralston has no problem with his bricklayer nickname at Celtic - as he's happy to run with it and continue to perform for his daughter.

The right-back has risen from the fringes of the Hoops team to a key member of Ange Postecoglou's Premiership squad, making 43 appearances, notching five goals and seven assists this season.

Born in Bellshill and a former pupil of Airdrie's All Saints primary school, his form has helped contribute to Celtic's title charge.

They sit six points clear in first with four games to go and face holders Rangers on Sunday.

Taking part in a question and answer session via his club's Twitter, Ralston fielded a range of queries on his season so far.

Fans have nicknamed him 'brickie' and the Scotland international finds the tag amusing.

He said: "The fans seem to love it! I find it funny and happy to go along with it. Some of the memes are a good laugh!"

A Celtic fan, iconic forward Henrik Larsson was also one player he looked up to. But Barcelona legend Dani Alves was the player in his position that had him in awe.

The 23-year-old explained: "I've always said Dani Alves when I was growing up, in the Barca team with the football they played. As a Celtic fan, I always loved watching Larsson."

In terms of what motivates him in green and white, his daughter provides a key factor in his performances. Many of the defender's performance are with her in mind.

Ralston added: "I would say my biggest drive is my daughter.

"She's my main motivation and everything I do is for her. I'm sure a lot of the Bhoys will agree that if you're a parent, they become your main motivation everyday."
