Football Manager 2023 Exclusive: Miles Jacobson confirms huge pre-order numbers

Game director Miles Jacobson has revealed his pride at seeing Football Manager 2023 soar up the pre-order charts on Steam ahead of its release.

The new game is set to hit shelves on November 8th, with the beta coming around two weeks beforehand.

The game became available for pre-order after the release date announcement, with there being no features announced at that point.

As per Steam’s website, FM23 is the fourth most popular product on their storefront, behind only the Steam Deck console, FIFA 23, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

That is a pretty incredible place for FM to find itself in, and Jacobson has revealed that figures like these mean it is almost inevitable that we will get a Football Manager 2024 next year.

GiveMeSport sat down with Miles to talk about all things FM and he has hailed the game’s fanbase, insisting that they have a huge amount of faith in Sports Interactive to continue making Football Manager the most realistic simulation they possibly can.

He has also revealed that, on average, players spent over 300 hours – or 12.5 days – playing FM22, and hopes that will be replicated in FM23.

Speaking exclusively to GMS, Jacobson was asked about the reception to FM23’s announcement and replied: “It feels pretty good. I mean, I think it shows that our audience have a lot of faith and trust in us because we hadn't announced any new features by that point. And the pre-orders are still looking really good after we have announced features as well.
