Foden says De Bruyne has hit new heights as Man City close in on title

Kevin de Bruyne's superlative four-goal blitz against Wolves took even his team-mates by surprise.

The inspirational Belgian scored his first three on his 'weaker' side to leave team-mate Phil Foden quipping: 'He's got a better left foot than me!'

Foden is used to de Bruyne's brilliance but says he hit new heights in midweek to take City within four points of the title.

They can claim three of them at West Ham on Sunday.

'I think it was one of the best performances I have ever seen by a player. It felt like he took the game on his own at times,' said Foden.

'He is such an important player. I have never seen anything like that in my life.

'I see him shoot with his left foot in training all the time. We know he has it in his locker but to execute it in a Premier League game is much more challenging.

'He did it and helped us get a very important three points.'

City have scored 10 goals in two games to take a goal difference advantage over Liverpool which could be decisive.

'It feels like in the last two games we have been finishing more chances,' added Foden. 'Hopefully in the next coming games we can do that again.

'West Ham away is always so difficult and we have struggled there in the past as well.

'Anything can happen, so we just have to stay focused and keep playing the way we are playing and hopefully we can get the job done.

'The title is so close, but not close enough for our liking.'
