Foden: Champions League triumph ‘the one Man City dream about’

Phil Foden admits that winning the Champions League is the ultimate “dream” for Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola’s side reached the final of the competition last season, losing 1-0 to Premier League rivals Chelsea.

Manchester City and Spurs have run-in advantage over rivals

City face Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals with a potential semi against Chelsea on the cards if Thomas Tuchel’s men defeat Real Madrid in the last eight.

The Premier League champions are on course for a historic treble this campaign if they win the Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup.

They are top of the league, one point above Liverpool, and are in the FA Cup semi-final, where they will also lock horns with the Reds.

Despite all the silverware City are competing for, Foden admits that the prize everyone wants to win is the Champions League.

“It’s the one we dream about, the one we want,” he told Soccer AM (via Sports Illustrated). “But even winning the Premier League is so big, how many times we’ve done it in the past couple of years, and obviously all the cups we’ve won as well.

“It would be really extra special if we could get the Champions League, but if not, I still believe we’ve been so successful in the last few years.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool are in the lead to sign Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni in the summer transfer window, according to Spanish publication Marca.

Tchouameni was named Ligue 1’s Young Player of the Year last season after a breakout campaign which saw him start all but two of Monaco’s league games.

Over the weekend it was claimed that Liverpool and Man United ‘have asked’ about the France international’s availability and Tchouameni ‘would not see the option [of a Premier League move] badly’.
