"I'm sure" - Journalist drops big claim on "top quality" Liverpool ace who wants Anfield exit

Liverpool defender Joe Gomez will have a lot of takers this summer, claims journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 24-year-old has been on the periphery at Anfield this season and is now being linked with a move away.

According to 90min, Gomez is hoping Liverpool will allow him to leave the club in the next transfer window as he looks to increase his chances of making England’s World Cup squad.

The same report states that several Premier League teams are interested in his signature, so the centre-back will not be short of suitors if Jurgen Klopp does grant his request this summer.

Leicester City, Tottenham, Newcastle United and West Ham are the English top-flight outfits that are thought to be interested in recruiting Gomez.

This season, the £22.5m-rated Liverpool star has made just five appearances in the Premier League, making it no surprise that he is eyeing up an exit.

O’Rourke is expecting the teams who are being linked with Gomez to have a serious look at him when the transfer window opens, telling GIVEMESPORT that the former Charlton Athletic man is a quality centre-back.

Speaking to GMS, the transfer insider said: “I’m sure there’ll be a lot of takers for Joe Gomez, who obviously had his bad luck with injuries last season with Liverpool.

“But on his day and when fit, I think he’s a top-quality centre-back, and I’m sure all those clubs would be looking at him if Liverpool do decide to let him move on.”

The aforementioned teams all have their appeal. If they all do end up making offers for Gomez in the summer, then the 6 ft 2 England international really will be spoilt for choice.
