Floyd Mayweather's jab was so fast & powerful it sounded like a whip

In his prime, it’s fair to say that Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather was a joy to watch.

With a professional record of 50-0, the American will arguably go down as one of the greatest to ever do it inside the ring.

The way he would talk the talk and walk the walk was second to none.

Making his professional debut way back in 1996, Mayweather was destined for big things early on in his career.

With 27 wins coming via knockout, ‘Money’ defeated the likes of Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Shane Mosley, Canelo Alvarez and Manny Pacquiao in what was a glittering career.

In a video posted on YouTube, the American can be seen practising his jab and it makes for pretty remarkable viewing.

Every time he landed, his jab was that quick it sounded like a whip as soon as ‘Money’ connected with the punching bag. Now imagine being on the receiving end of that… no thank you!

When watching Mayweather fight, his fighting style was unique. He would adopt a wide range of defence and a sharp offensive style.

He would let his opponent enter, make the opponent slip up and then smother them with quick attacks.

Mayweather was undoubtedly one of the best counter-punchers in the sport.

They say that the best defence is a good offence. You could argue that Floyd used this approach throughout his career, despite a lot of people claiming he was too defensive.

He would tend to block his chin as well as protect himself from body shots. The way he did this always proved to pay dividends for ‘Money’ as opponents struggled to land clean.

With this defensive approach, Floyd would then be able to attack extremely well. He would dodge powerful punches and then attack when they leave their chins open.
