Fleetwood Town interested in signing Huddersfield Town winger Danny Grant on loan

Fleetwood Town are reportedly keen on signing Huddersfield Town winger Danny Grant on loan. According to the i, the Cod Army want to take Grant on loan for the 2022/23 Football League campaign, with the 22-year-old forward yet to be handed a start by new boss Danny Schofield despite Huddersfield having lost three of their opening four games this season.

Grant has impressed for Huddersfield's B team over the past few months, leaving plenty of Terriers supporters wondering how far away from a first-team berth the 22-year-old is.

Despite their indifferent start to the season following the shock summer departure of Carlos Corberan, the Ireland u21 international is yet to make an appearance for Town's first team this term.

However, Huddersfield fans may have to wait to see Grant in action for the senior side, with Fleetwood now increasingly keen on adding the Irishman to their ranks on loan.

A move to Fleetwood would give Grant guaranteed first team football is now a real possibility, with the Cods said to be at the front of the queue for the promising winger.

Arriving from Irish side Bohemians in January 2021, Grant's time at Huddersfield hasn't been the plainest of sailing. His first year at the club was hampered by hamstring injuries in both legs as well as having to deal with the lingering side-effects of COVID-19.

He now looks to be past his frustrating spate of injuries, something which manager Danny Schofield believes made Grant a stronger person.

“He [Danny Grant] did have that tough start with a few hamstring injuries and the COVID," Schofield said at the start of August.

"He was very frustrated and upset during that period, but he’s come through it and probably developed a lot of resilience over that period.
